aperture is designed to help you focus in an open office. It creates the balance of visual separation from distraction without losing connection to your immediate environment, making it easy for you to focus at one moment and collaborate in another.
We started designing aperture as a response to frustrations with the open office. We traveled coast to coast – to companies large and small, progressive and conservative – to research and understand how people work better together and as individuals. Through that research, we developed a simple product line that supports each individual user.
The 120° orientation helps to manage wireless devices, curate video chats and provide individual privacy when sitting next to a co-worker. The canopy minimizes eye to eye contact (making interactions purposeful) and provides a sense of place. The planter explores biophilia as a screen and helps distribute power/data. High and Low Pose curate the space around aperture for quick meetings and postural change. The 120° application of aperture gives designers the freedom to create linear or organic layouts.
aperture was recently introduced at Adobe’s new campus at 100 Hooper in San Francisco. MASHstudios engineered and manufactured the product line and is now manufacturing aperture for everyone.
