TWO BIRDS ONE STONE

Two Birds One Stone is a dynamic food and beverage destination designed to activate Kansas City’s Berkley Riverfront Park through integration with its natural surroundings. Nestled within an existing grove of trees, the project emphasizes connection to the tree canopy, river, and adjacent park activity. The two-story building accommodates a beer hall, kitchen, cocktail bar, and rooftop deck, bringing a new amenity to the riverfront.
The building’s low profile and transparency respect the character of the park, while a layered canopy system and mix of indoor/outdoor venues extend usability year-round. Drawing diverse downtown residents, trail users, gameday crowds, and tourists, it supports park activation without displacing the serene landscape. The design and implementation were the result of collaboration with the owner, developer, City of Kansas City, Port KC, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, navigating the challenges and opportunities of its levee-adjacent site.
