Field Office

Field Office transforms an existing warehouse into a branch office for a national specialty contractor. Drawing on the owner’s deep expertise in framing and wall finishing, the design elevates the craft while staying grounded in authenticity and function.  The concept pairs two core ideas: true craft—a dedication to intricate execution—and work boots—a symbol of utility, hard work, and timeless performance. The result is a space that balances the pragmatic, the beautiful, and the honest.
At the heart of the renovation are two striking, twenty-foot-tall skylights that flood the former warehouse with natural light, bringing daylight deep into the interior. Organized around this dramatic feature are a shared kitchen, lounge, and a flexible conferencing center for workforce training and continuing education.
Team workspaces and offices are laid out for optimal efficiency, making the most of existing windows, daylight, and privacy. Acoustical ceiling elements define and enhance open office areas, while intentional wall treatments highlight zones of collaboration. A second entryway offers a seamless transition between the field and the office, with designated areas for dirty boots, along with added restrooms, showers, and conference space to support crews moving between job sites and the office.
With a focus on restraint, refinement, and carefully crafted details, Field Office is an unapologetically honest workplace—rooted in skill, function, and integrity.
