Charlie Hustle and Sporting KC launched their apparel collaboration and wanted to do something special. Taking an old + crowded shipping container used as a retail element at Sporting’s stadium since 2013, we first started by creating a large, 16’ bi-fold door opening in the front of the store so that fans could feel fully immersed in the store and let more air flow through the space. Surrounding that opening is a painted on “goal frame” created as a visual relationship to the game as well as a beacon for fans locating the store. The retail component is designed to reflect the locker rooms of clubs all over the world and give fans the feeling of selecting their “kit” before the match. This construction also allowed for natural integration of storage which was not previously available to the Sporting KC retail team. On top of the container is a large steel banner with the Charlie Hustle logo, an homage to the awning that sits above all of their retail stores. Turf was used on the interior and entry platform to give a tactile experience that reminds fans of the pitch they are so accustomed to watching Sporting KC play on. This turf platform was also created as an ADA compliant ramp so that no fan is left out of the Charlie Hustle retail experience.
The work, in its entirety, was completed in less than a month’s time.

Special thanks to Charlie Hustle, Sporting KC, C&O Sales, and Turner Construction for the collaborative effort to make this project a reality.
