29 GILLHAM APARTMENTS
Located near the Martini Row Restaurant District, 29 Gillham is a 22 unit apartment building with an urban experience. The site is surrounded by new row homes and renovated brick industrial buildings, has a great view to the west and north toward downtown. We took a very practical and logical approach to the massing with materiality that is natural and reflects the function and flow of the building. This gave us the opportunity to make the living units more open, flexible and loft-like. Cement panels ring the base 1 bedroom units and the upper two floors of 2 bedroom units are clad in stucco. Large balconies are grouped together and divided by wood clad circulation and railings. West sun is diffused by vertical sunshade fins and also orients your primary view toward downtown. An economical, sustainable approach is taken to the entire project.
